Driver and passenger rescued after truck crashes into water at BC Ferries terminal

staff report
December 12, 2024 10:24am

Comox Valley RCMP are investigating after a pickup truck drove through barriers and into the water at the BC Ferries terminal on Denman Island.

Comox Valley RCMP officers responded to the call at approximately 6:45 a.m. In a press release, police said BC Ferries staff acted quickly and helped the driver and passenger escape the water safely. The driver and passenger sustained seemingly minor injuries, and one was transported to hospital.

Investigators are still reviewing all of the evidence. However, impaired driving is being considered as one of the factors in this incident. Said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing. Criminal charges will be recommended if deemed appropriate based on a thorough review of all evidence gathered.
