A frequent transit route between Downtown and Garibaldi Village is being planned by District of Squamish and BC Transit.

March 6, 2025 7:51am

BC Transit and the District of Squamish are inviting residents to provide feedback on proposed changes to the local bus network. The plan aims to introduce a frequent transit route between Downtown and Garibaldi Village and explore new transit options for South Squamish.

South Squamish includes Downtown, Oceanfront, the Adventure Centre, SEAandSKY, St’a7mes, and Redbridge. The district says these changes align with the Squamish Transit Future Action Plan, which was endorsed by council in 2022.

Background

The TFAP identified key transit improvements, including:

  • The need for transit service in South Squamish, with a recommendation for an on-demand study.
  • A study on a Frequent Transit Network (FTN) corridor between Downtown and Garibaldi Village.

According to the District, public engagement during the TFAP process strongly supported a second transit exchange in Garibaldi Village and a frequent transit to connect high-demand areas. The current proposal is based on that feedback. BC Transit and the District of Squamish are gathering public input to refine routes, frequency, and service hours.
