Diana Lockett, a local Speech-Language Pathologist, has been invited by educational leaders in Nepal to volunteer her expertise in supporting nonverbal children in schools and orphanages. Her mission will take her to some of Nepal’s most remote areas, where she will provide communication tools to children in need, helping them express their basic needs and connect with the world around them.

Lockett has dedicated her career to empowering neurodiverse children through evidence-based communication strategies and holistic approaches. She works on communication skills and emotional well-being by integrating speech-language therapy with spiritual coaching.

“I have spent decades helping nonverbal children find their voice, and this opportunity to serve in Nepal is an incredible honor,” she said. “These children deserve to be heard, and I am committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to express themselves and engage with their communities.”

During her time in Nepal, Lockett will train educators, caregivers, and community members in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods, equipping them with tools to facilitate effective communication for nonverbal children. In addition to her hands-on support, she will focus on enhancing these children’s mental and emotional well-being through her spiritual coaching background.

“A dream is taking place as Diana offers her dharma to our most vulnerable children,” said Dr. Chintamani Gautam, Lockett’s host in Nepal. “Her experience, wisdom, talent, and compassion are a powerful expression of her humanity.”

As this mission is entirely volunteer-based, a GoFundMe page has been established to help cover travel, accommodation, and other essential expenses.
