The Green Party of Canada has announced that Lauren Greenlaw will be its candidate for West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country in the upcoming federal election.

With a background in geosciences and public service, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply interconnected our environmental, economic, and social challenges are,” said Lauren Greenlaw. Greenlaw noted that she had fought against fossil fuel expansion, advocated for gender equity, and worked to strengthen local economy as a councillor in Squamish. “Now, I’m ready to take that fight to Parliament—because our communities deserve leadership that prioritizes people over corporate profits.”

Greenlaw’s priorities include fighting for stronger climate action, social and economic equity, local food security, small business support, and ending fossil fuel subsidies. She is determined to ensure that municipalities no longer bear the brunt of underfunded mental health, housing, and climate adaptation programs while upper levels of government continue to subsidize big industry, the press release notes.

“Lauren Greenlaw will be an outstanding Member of Parliament advancing the concerns of her constituents in West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country. She is a scientist, a community advocate, and a fighter for real solutions,” said Elizabeth May, Co-Leader of the Green Party of Canada. “She understands that the climate crisis is no longer primarily  an environmental issue—It is a security threat. It is  about fairness, health, and economic stability. We could not be more pleased to have her stand for the Greens in West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country.”

“We are at a crossroads in Canada. Lauren Greenlaw knows what’s at stake, and she has the experience and vision to push for bold climate action, economic justice, and a fairer democracy,” added Jonathan Pedneault, Co-Leader of the Green Party of Canada. “ West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country has a real opportunity to elect an MP who will fight for a livable future for all.”
