Squamish driver charged with stunt driving in Northern Ontario

A 59-year-old Squamish driver faces a stunt driving charge after being stopped for travelling more than twice the speed limit on Highway 11.

Ontario Provincial Police from the James Bay detachment clocked the vehicle at 116 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone shortly after 12:30 p.m. on April 14.  The driver received an immediate 30-day licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in traffic court at a later date. Police reminded drivers to slow down and drive responsibly, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility.
