The District of Squamish will close Brennan Park Recreation Centre on several dates this fall as part of a $21-million renovation project. All areas of the facility will close on September 17–19, September 23, and October 9–10.  The pool will also be closed down from September 3 to October 17 for its annual maintenance and construction work.

Officials said safe access cannot be provided while construction is underway on those days. The District said in a news release that the closures are needed to maintain safety while the renovation project, now about 60% complete, moves toward its spring 2026 finish.

The Aquatic Centre’s extended closure will allow for ceiling renovations while the pool is drained. The pool is scheduled to reopen on October 18. “We recognize this is inconvenient given the unexpected spring closure due to Vancouver Coastal Health’s order,” the District said in a release. “However, the maintenance work must remain on an annual schedule, and the renovation work is required.”

Completed upgrades include the Tantalus Room and ice rink change rooms. The customer service area is 80% finished, while the south lobby, universal washrooms, and Black Tusk Room are expected to reopen later this fall.

The main lobby, new reception desk, and mezzanine with elevator are slated to open in early 2026. The District said construction has been coordinated with the pool shutdown to reduce overall disruptions.
