In response, multiple emergency units were dispatched, including two ambulances—one staffed with primary care paramedics and another with advanced care paramedics—an advanced care responder unit, and an air ambulance helicopter. Paramedics took one patient to the hospital via air ambulance in critical condition, according to BCEHS Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.

In a statement, Squamish RCMP said the northbound lane of Highway 99 was closed to secure the scene for investigation and the safety of emergency responders treating those involved in the collision.

“A man in his early 20s from the lower mainland was transported in critical condition to a Vancouver area hospital. The other individuals involved were assessed on scene,” Sgt. Sascha Banks said.
