Squamish residents will now have more transit options, as additional service hours were added to key local routes, according to a press release by the Province.

The expansion, which began on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, increases frequency on Route 1 Brackendale and Route 2 Highlands. Weekday trips were added to Route 1 Brackendale, with one late-evening trip on Sundays, while Route 2 Highlands now sees more weekday trips and an additional Sunday evening trip.

“People in Squamish now have more transit options on the Brackendale and Highlands routes,” said George Anderson, parliamentary secretary for transit. “By adding service hours on those routes, we’re making it easier for people to connect with their communities and access the services they rely on,” according to Anderson.

The service expansion is part of a broader effort by BC Transit and the B.C. government, in partnership with the District of Squamish, the Province says.  Since 2017, the ministry says it has increased BC Transit’s grant by about 70% to support transit service levels throughout British Columbia.
