Walk n Roll returns to downtown Squamish, honours accessibility advocate D’Arcy McCrea

The second annual Walk n Roll will take place in downtown Squamish on Saturday, September 19, celebrating people with disabilities while encouraging the community to learn more about accessibility and inclusion.

The free event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stan Clarke Park and participating locations throughout downtown Squamish.

Participants can pick up a Walk n Roll passport at the park before visiting local businesses and organizations to learn about accessibility and collect stamps. Participants can enter completed passports into a prize draw. The event will conclude with a community celebration at Stan Clarke Park beginning at 2:30 p.m., featuring music and cake.

Honouring D’Arcy McCrea

This year’s Walk n Roll will also honour the memory of D’Arcy McCrea, a Squamish resident and disability advocate who created the original event.

McCrea, who died in 2025, dedicated countless hours to improving accessibility in Squamish. Organizers say the event recognizes his contributions and the lasting impact of his efforts to make the community more accessible and inclusive.

The District of Squamish, Downtown Squamish, Tourism Squamish, Squamish Arts, the Squamish Rotary Club, and the Squamish Public Library are organizing Walk n Roll.

The event is open to everyone. More information is available on the Walk n Roll event page. Information about downtown parking, including an accessible parking map, is available on the District of Squamish website.
