Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Howe Sound, with 50 to 70 millimetres of rain expected from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.
A frontal system moving toward the Lower Mainland is expected to bring heavy rain beginning this evening, along with strong, gusty southeasterly winds overnight and Tuesday morning. The rain is forecast to ease Tuesday afternoon, Environment Canada said.
The warning also covers parts of Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.
Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas, potentially disrupting Tuesday morning’s commute. Environment Canada advises drivers to allow extra travel time, avoid flooded roads and watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
