District of Squamish Fire Hall has promoted Sean Sweeney to fire captain, effective April 2, 2012.

Sea Sweeney

Born in England and raised in Squamish, Sean has 30 years of combined volunteer and career service with Squamish Fire Rescue.  He is married to Sue and has two adult children, Dane and Austin.

Sean’s primary areas of focus will be training recruits and emergency management, aimed at enhancing the service provided to 18,000 Squamish residents.

He will not only oversee efficient 911 fire and rescue services delivered to areas within the municipal boundaries, but will ensure the recruit program and curriculum meets department needs.

“I believe the Squamish Fire Hall offers one of the best protective services in British Columbia and I’m proud to be able to serve the community as the Fire Captain,” said Sean.

“Firefighting is about giving back to the community and protecting the community,” said Squamish Mayor Rob Kirkham.  “Sean’s new role is critical to ensure the District continues to meet exceptional fire service standards in our region.”

Sean will join Deputy Fire Chief Bob Fulton and Fire Chief Russ Inouye to form a new leadership team at the Squamish Fire Hall.
