Tim Hortons is going double-double in Squamish.

Canada’s largest fast food service is planning a second store on Garibaldi Way, at the intersection of Government Road, just across from the Husky gas station.

Besides Tim Hortons, CIBC bank is also expected to open its first branch at that location.

An application to change the zoning from industrial to commercial will come before the council in November.

The Tim Hortons location will take up 3,000 sq-ft of space, while CIBC bank is expected to take up 5,000 sq-ft.

Once approved, the construction is expected to start in the next year.

Editor’s Note: The story will be updated as more details emerge.

I sure hope we will see some interesting architecture proposed. This will essentially be out northern gateway building; what greets people when arriving to town. The northern equivalent to McDonalds at the south end of town.
