A local company, Coastal Mountain Custom (CMC) Homes, has won an award for a Built Green TM Renovation they completed in Hospital Hill in 2011.
The award ceremony was held at the Coast Coal Harbor Hotel in Vancouver on Saturday September 28th, 2012
CMCH was the winner of the “Best Built Green TM Home Addition Renovation.”
“To be named as a finalist was an honour, but to win this award is amazing,” said co-owner James Finlayson.
“We could not have done it without our great team of employees and the vision of the owners of the property.”
Finlayson said building green does not have to cost you more money.
There is a common misconception that building green is very expensive but there are many ways to increase the efficiency of a house and use sustainable products while keeping the costs down, he said.
“This will not only make your house more comfortable to live in, it will make it cheaper to operate,” Finlayson added.
This property was the first such renovation to achieve the highest level of certification, Platinum, in Canada back in June 2011.
Other local companies announced as finalists were RDC Fine Homes, CR Contacting and Durfeld Constructors.
