The first ever roller derby event in Whistler resort was held at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival on Monday April 15, 2013.

It was a wild full contact ladies roller derby match between the Sea To Sky Sirens from Squamish and the Black Diamond Betties from Whistler.

A temporary flat roller derby race track floor was installed into the main ballroom of the Whistler Conference Centre which hosted the sold out event.

The capacity crowds roared as the match began while the festival announcer and lights complimented the sporting spectacle.

The Sea to Sky Sirens pulled out to an early lead and after halftime, and it looked as if they might win another match.

The final minutes of the event produced very loud cheering from the large crowd as the Black Diamond Betties came from behind with many last minute points to win the match.

The first ever roller derby event in Whistler resort was a success that has introduced a new feature to the traditional World Ski & Snowboard Festival lineup.

A rematch between the Sea To Sky Sirens from Squamish and the Black Diamond Betties from Whistler is scheduled for the Summer of 2013.
