A 54-year-old male Squamish resident who was found unconscious on early Sunday morning outside the Cliffside pub in Valleycliffe has died.

He died on March 3 at the Vancouver General Hospital. The name of the vicitm wasn’t released.

Police have spoken to a person of interest in the assault incident, but no arrests have been made so far.

Pride police responded to a report of a fight around 12:30 a.m. at the pub on March 2. When they reached the pub, they didn’t find anyone fighting, nor anyone with injuries.

What they found instead was a group of people aggressively arguing with each other. At that point, someone told a police officer about a man lying on the ground close by.

Police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have information about it to contact them at 604-892-6100.

The RCMP’s IHIT section has taken over the investigation.
