I’ve only been a mother for 18 months, but what an amazingly, exhausting, incredible time it has been. With wonderful highs and tiring lows, as any mother would know. I very recently thought to myself after thinking of my mum, so far away in Australia. Wow, how have I done this?
Hmm, I’m surprisingly good at it. (Not sure about everyone else but I had always wondered if motherhood would come naturally to me.)
I have been sleep training my daughter now for two weeks and what a fantastic and gratifying feeling it is to succeed with something so terrifying for both myself and my little one. Last night for the first time after bath and story time my daughter looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes, let out a little sob as she knows what’s coming next, locked her little soft lips on mine, then hugged me till my heart skipped a beat, and said “I wove woo, Mumma”.
I will hold that moment in my heart for the rest of my life. To me, that’s what it’s all about. Being a mum, has been the best time in my life.
