Squamish RCMP is reminding residents to keep doors locked and secure valuable items following an increase in residential break and enters.
The warning follows a brazen daylight break-ins where thieves targeted two homes in Brackendale. The local police were called to the two homes on April 26. The first complaint was from a residence on Eagle Run Drive where the owner told the police the home was broken into and an Orange Kona Bike and a Nikon D90 Camera and Lens were stolen.
The second theft occurred in a home in Kingswood, where the owners said a HDR Camera was missing. The incidents were believed to have happened around lunch time and police believe the incidents may be connected .
Squamish RCMP is urging citizens to be vigilant and secure valuable items following an increase in break-ins.
VANCOUVER CAR FOUND BURNING IN BRITANNIA BEACH
On Sunday, at 4 am, Squamish RCMP received a request for assistance from the Britannia Beach Fire Department for a vehicle on fire near Copper Drive and Highway 99. The truck, a Blue 2015 Dodge 1500, was on fire and it was later determined to have been stolen from Vancouver just a a few hours earlier.
THEFT FROM CAR In DOWNTOWN SQUAMISH
On Wednesday, April 25, Squamish RCMP received a reported of a theft from a Mazda 3 which happened overnight when it was parked on the 37000 block of Cleveland Avenue. The owner of the vehicle said a Tom Tom GPS was stolen from his vehicle. During the theft the suspect ripped off the rear view mirror and cracked the windshield.
KAYAK STOLEN FROM LIONS BAY
On Saturday, April 28th, Squamish RCMP were notified of a Kayak which had been stolen from a property on Lions Bay Avenue in Lions Bay. The Kayak is described as a white, Hybrid Blue Finn, 20ft long Kayak.
MOTORCYCLE RIDER SERIOUSLY INJURED
On Friday, April 27th, Squamish RCMP received a request for assistance from BC Ambulance for a multi-vehicle collision at Government Road and Wain Place in Brackendale. Upon attendance RCMP noted a vehicle had collided with a motorcycle causing the rider of the motorcycle to be thrown into the ditch. Both the driver of the vehicle and motorcycle were transported to Squamish General Hospital. The rider was later transported to Vancouver General Hospital with serious injuries.
