Sea to Sky gala raises $60,000 for community programs

May 10, 2018 7:23am

Sea to Sky gala raised $60,000 for various community based programs in Squamish. Organised by the Sea to Sky Community Services, the gala was a beautiful night, full of smiles, dancing and donations, the organisers said.

The gala event took place at the Sea to Sky Gondola on Friday, May 4. It was also the 40th anniversary of the Sea to Sky Community Services.

As many as 200 guests enjoyed entertainment by the Sea to Sky Orchestra, Jocelyn Pettit Duo, Joe Fusion and Bluesberry Jam Showband during the course of the evening.

Local born and raised CFL Grey Cup champion retired player Joe Eppele was the MC and Alice Guss, the Squamish First Nations elder opened the event with a blessing.

The gala was sponsored by eleven businesses from Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton.

There were 48 donations of silent auction items from local businesses and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be channeled directly into SSCS programs and services in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
