Beware of CRA scammer who calls with Squamish RCMP number on display

July 18, 2018 3:23pm

Squamish RCMP is warning the public of a new scam artist who is able to call with the Squamish RCMP number on display.

On Tuesday, July 10th,  the Squamish RCMP received several phone calls from concerned Squamish residents about a new Canada Revenue Agency scam where the caller was stating there was a warrant out for their arrest for not paying their tax.

The number on the phone display was that of the Squamish RCMP.

Police is reminding Squamish citizens the local police nor the CRA use this method for tax payment.

If you receive such a call don’t give any financial information, and call the local police.

You can also call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at # 1-888-495-8501 or report the case at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
