Reminder: Brennan Park pool to close for maintenance

September 4, 2018 7:31am

The Brennan Park Recreation Centre pool will be closed for annual maintenance from September 5 through October 6. The fall pool schedule and swim lessons will resume on Sunday, October 7.

The annual pool closure occurs in order to complete preventative maintenance on all areas of the Aquatic Centre including the pools, steam room, hot tub, change rooms and mechanical areas, and to help prevent larger, more costly problems from occurring.

This year, all three pools will be drained and routine maintenance will include scrubbing and cleaning the tiles and grout, checking for broken or damaged tiles, grates and filters.

There will also be routine preventive maintenance on boilers, pumps, HVAC systems, inspections and repairs on overhead play equipment, Engineering review of rope swing and monkey bars, re-grouting  of deep end pool sides and other areas on deck, electric upgrades as well as filter room upgrades.

With all the talk of rebuilding the Brennan Park, even in another location……downtown has even been mentioned as a possible…We can expect to lose the pool, the arena or both. They will cry lack of money and or land. Most of the available land will be turned into Condos etc. Be careful how you vote in the up-coming Elections! It is funny that my house was built in 1974 and is still like new…but the Brennan Park buildings were constructed much later and are apparently beyond repair or upgrading….Go figure!
