Sacha Fabry has announced he will be seeking a seat on the council this October.
Sacha says he brings five years of non-profit and board governance experience. People, he says, have always been his focus and that is one reason he is seeking your vote.
“This focus on people has been honed through over a thousand volunteer hours with Katimavik, Scouts Canada, and other non-profits throughout Squamish and Metro Vancouver. I understand how important close-knit communities and businesses are in supporting people.”
Fabry has been the vice-president and later president, of the Capilano Students Union, where he represented 7,000 students, and lobbied all levels of government.
He has also represented 80,000 post-secondary students as chair of the Alliance of BC Students, and represented over 100,000 people in talks between universities and colleges, student societies, the Provincial Government and TransLink
“My governance expertise would be a huge asset. A four-year term goes by quickly — fortunately, though, through six years of governance experience, my co-founding of the Good Governance Group (G3 Consulting), and the work that I’ve already done lobbying governments for constituents, I’ll be able to hit the ground running.”
Sacha says he has been a part of some incredible achievements including laying the groundwork for affordable housing, securing a funding source for a $10 million capital project, negotiating an 18-month price freeze on the U-Pass BC program for students and lobbying the federal government to increase access to education for Indigenous people as well as pushing the provincial government to take steps curb sexualized violence and misconduct at post-secondary campuses.
Fabry has worked with local businesses doing sales and business development in the residential construction industry, and has collaborated with the leaders of a number of local Squamish organizations.
“There are critical issues facing Squamish in the next four years: issues of livability, transparency, and sustainability. I’d love the chance to serve the community, through representing you on Council, and by bringing a fresh perspective on how we can tackle these problems together. I hope that I can count on your support.”

Dave Colwell says
This is exactly the kind of person we need to inject some new blood into our town. Time for a change from the same old.
All too often in this town has been the thought from the prospective voter,,,, “Who shall I vote for who can help me make more money whatever?” We need a rounded altruistic, knowledgeable base with a working expertise and ability in each candidate.
And Mr. T.P….Give it a rest!
