Two arrested for drunk driving after crashes on Highway 99 in Squamish

November 12, 2018 7:58am

Squamish RCMP has arrested two people for impaired driving in separate crash incidents last week on Highway 99 in Squamish.

On Monday, November 12, at 1:45 pm, Squamish RCMP and Whistler RCMP responded to multiple calls about a drunk driver going south bound on Highway 99, just north of Squamish.

Police was unable to locate the vehicle until they got a call about a vehicle upside down in a ditch by Brohm Lake.  Police found the driver to be impaired.

An off-duty police officer was a witness on scene and assisted Squamish RCMP in an impaired investigation.

The driver was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired and taken to hospital for assessment and was released from custody. He will appear in court soon.

The second car crash incident that led to impairment charges happened on Highway 99 at Mamquam Road on Sunday, November 11 at 5:15 pm.

Police were called to the scene of three-vehicle crash. Police investigation found that one of the cars had collided into the other two cars, and the driver was impaired by alcohol.

He was subsequently arrested for allegedly driving while impaired, and was brought back to the RCMP detachment where he was later released with a court date for January in North Vancouver.
