The blizzards are not too far from Squamish.
Dairy Queen is working to open its Squamish location by early spring, said a company representative.
The DQ store will be located in the Solterra development across from Home Depot in the Squamish Business Park.
Tony Watters, director of franchise development, said DQ will start work on the store in January and hope to be open to the public in March or early April.
“We are quite excited and thrilled to be in Squamish. It’s been a long process in getting us to where we are at right now,” he said.
Watters said the 2600-square feet Squamish store will also offer a drive-thru service for customers.
While best known for its desserts and frozen treats, Dairy Queen has been promoting burgers, chicken strips, wraps and onion rings alongside its more traditional offerings.
Watters said the company is focussed on Grill & Chill development.
“We still have the ice creams and the deserts, but you can also enjoy burgers and onion rings, so it’s like three restaurants in one place,” he said.
The company plans to open more locations in the province next year.
“BC will be a huge market for us in 2019,” Watters said.
