On Thursday, May 30, 2019 at approximately 3:15 pm, , Whistler and Squamish RCMP and Emergency Services attended the scene of a fatal motorcycle collision on Highway 99, north of the Conroy Forest Service Road, about 20 kilometres south of Whistler, BC.
A group of three motorcyclists were traveling north when, for reasons still being investigated, one of the motorcyclists left the highway and was ejected from his motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a 50 year old man from the Lower Mainland, died at the scene from injuries. The cause of the collision remains under investigation however, at this time, criminality is not believed to be a contributing factor.
Highway 99 was restricted to single lane, alternating traffic as police investigated and was re-opened to traffic in the early evening.
Sea to Sky Traffic Services and the BC Coroners’ Service continue to investigate this collision. Anyone with information regarding this crash who has not spoken with police is asked to contact Sea to Sky Traffic Services in Squamish at 604-892-6100 and cite file 2019-3188.
