Squamish RCMP arrested three criminals after a rash of thefts, possession of weapons, and other suspicious activities.
On July 9th, Squamish RCMP were notified of three people trying to make photocopies of credit cards and identification at a local business. Information provided by the employee led police to learn that the trio were associated to an alleged stolen vehicle out of Kamloops.
Two of the three suspects were arrested downtown while the other male fled from officers. The third man was later located along Loggers Lane where he was arrested and found to have an outstanding warrant from Kamloops. He also had prohibited weapons in his possession.
This was the culmination of the public providing essential information and officers following up on this which ended in arrests and recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property
stated Sergeant Sascha Banks. The trust the citizens of Squamish have with providing us information is a vital component to a successful and effective community policing model.
Squamish RCMP continue to look into the items recovered and have been able to connect these suspects to multiple property and violent offences between Squamish and Kamloops. Police are working with partner agencies such as the Integrated Forensic Identification Section as well as other RCMP detachments.
The trio are facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of prohibited weapons, and obstruction. They are set to appear in North Vancouver court in November of 2019.
