Vancouver lawyer is Team Trudeau 2019 candidate for Sea to Sky riding

August 29, 2019 12:31pm

Patrick Weiler, an environmental and resource management lawyer, has been nominated as the Team Trudeau candidate in the West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country riding for this fall’s important federal election.

The 33-year-old lawyer has also worked with the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute.

“I have been knocking on doors here in West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country and listening to the issues that matter most to our community. I am honoured to have earned the trust of local Liberals in our riding and look forward to working with Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team to create good new jobs, strengthen our middle class and continue to develop and implement strategies to address climate change,” said Weiler.

According to a press release, Patrick has represented First Nations and municipalities in aboriginal rights cases and in provincial and federal environmental impact assessments. He has worked as a corporate and commercial lawyer advising small businesses on commercial and real estate contractual relations, corporate structuring and regulatory matters.

He has also worked for agencies of the United Nations to improve the governance of freshwater and marine environments in countries around the globe.

“Patrick is a strong and knowledgeable voice for credible action on climate change, which includes supporting the implementation of the federal government’s ground-breaking Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change,” according to the media release.

Patrick said Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team have been working on a strong plan for British Columbians. “Justin Trudeau’s positive plan is working to strengthen our middle class and make life better for Canadian families. The Liberal plan provides national leadership to take action on climate change, put a price on carbon, and reduce carbon pollution,” he said.
