BC Ferries has cancelled ferry service on two key routes between Vancouver and Vancouver Island because of wind warnings.
Stanley Park is also currently closed to the public, due to the impact of high winds, Vancouver Park Board announced on Twitter.
Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for the Metro Vancouver region, including North Shore, Southern Gulf Islands, and Greater Victoria.
Winds will begin to subside in the afternoon to early evening.
Due to the extreme winds, the following sailings have been cancelled:
Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay)
11:00 am departing Tsawwassen
11:00 am departing Swartz Bay
12:00 pm departing Swartz Bay
1:00 pm departing Tsawwassen
1:00 pm departing Swartz Bay
2:00 pm departing Tsawwassen
Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) – Nanaimo (Departure Bay)
10:40 am departing Departure Bay
1:00 pm departing Horseshoe Bay
All customers with reservations on cancelled sailings will be advised by email that their booking is cancelled and where possible, accommodated on a later sailing. Reservations that are cancelled will have their reservation fees fully refunded.
Customers will be loaded on a standby basis in their order of arrival at the terminal, after customers with reservations for the scheduled sailing.
