Police have called off search for missing Bowen Island woman, Shilanee Stedmances. The 23-year-old was last seen near the Eagle Cliff area on Bowen Island on November 4 at 8 pm on Bowen Island.
Stedmances had connections in North Shore, and police initially believes she could be here.
The Bowen Island RCMP and other police agencies, along with North Shore Rescue, searched the Bowen Island area extensively—on land and later in water.
For several weeks, Air 1, Westcoast Marine, Vancouver PD Marine Section, Squamish RCMP and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team searched for her but that has now been called off.
RCMP located some items close to Shilanne’s residence which indicated she may have fallen into the water but a meticulous examination of area by boat and RCMP divers have been unable to locate Shilanne.
The search on Bowen Island and the surrounding waters have concluded, but Bowen Island RCMP will continue to investigate Shilanne as a missing person and will follow up on all leads.
Before leaving, she told her family that she loved them. She also left all her belongings behind including her cell phone, identification, wallet, handbag and bank card.
