Squamish RCMP has arrested fraudsters after an alert citizen complained about the suspects trying to access his bank account.
The complainant came to the police on January 12 and alerted the police about fraudsters trying to accessing his bank account.
Police conducted an investigation, identified the fraudsters and arrested them for fraud, identify fraud, and theft of mail, according to Cpl. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP
Police didn’t specify the number of people who were arrested.
Mobile phone found
On January 7, 2020, a person turned in a mobile phone they found at Porteau Cove to the police. The Squamish RCMP will keep the phone for 90 days and then return it to the person who found it if is remains unclaimed.
Mountain Bike found
On January 10, 2020, a person turned in a green mountain bike they found near Valleycliffe Elementary School. RCMP will keep the bike for 90 days and then destroy it if it not claimed.
Winter Tires Check Stop
On January 10, 2020, Traffic Services conducted a check stop for winter tires on Highway 99. Police checked 816 vehicles, and all were compliant with regulations.
Theft from Mailbox
On January 13, 2020, an unknown person stole a cheque from a mailbox in the 39000 block of Government Road. Police continue to investigate this matter.
Theft From Vehicle
On January 11, 2020, a driver parked his car along Cleveland Avenue and had his tree climbing equipment stolen. Stolen items included climbing belt with black tool hook and yellow clasp; spurs with Canadian flag hockey tape on bolts; a smaller red tool bag with black draw string top; 200 feet of yellow zip line; a black handsaw with black sheath. RCMP is encouraging people to remove their belongings from cars and secure cars.
