Public info meeting on budget today

The District of Squamish is holding a public information meeting on the budget today, January 16, 2020.

The meeting will take place between 4:30pm to 7 pm.

The meeting will take place at the Ledge Community Coffee House, 38055 Cleveland Avenue, in Downtown Squamish.

Council and senior staff will there to ask questions, and share ideas on the budget.

Here are some of the key special projects being planned

  • Downtown Entrance study
  • Comprehensive dike inspections
  • Short term rental legal review
  • Wildfire equipment and training
  • Neighbourhood hubs for disaster resiliency

Capital projects that district is planning include improvements at the Brennan Park, acquisition of parkland, a new signal at Garibaldi and Tantalus Road, replacement and electrification of district fleet of vehicles are also some capital projects being planned.

A bylaw enforcement officer for short term rentals, a flex firefighter, and transit expansion are some of the changes planned as part of service change.

Light refreshments will be served at the public information meeting, and childcare will be provided.
