GoFundMe page set up for family of toddler killed in accident

staff report
February 29, 2020 2:37pm

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of two-year-old girl who was killed in the accident at the Garibaldi Village Mall parking lot on Friday, February 28.

The page has been started by friends of the family.

The family attends The Rock Church, whose lead pastor, Glenn Davies, has been with the family at the hospital throughout the night.

Davies said the tragedy has shaken the family as well as the community.

“All the people that I met, doctors, nurses, first responders, and even the police officers were deeply affected by this. Our entire community has been affected by this,” Davies said.

Davies said the mother of the toddler wasn’t seriously injured but is emotionally devastated and struggling to cope with the fact that her first-born is no longer with her.

“She is really struggling emotionally,” Davies said.

He said many people in the Rock Church are also praying for the driver, who is also known to the pastor. Davies said the driver is also struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

He said the generosity with which people are donating money shows how deeply the people in community care for each other.

“People are rallying behind this family, and we all know that Squamish is a very caring community,” he said.
