Local sushi restaurant offers free meals to front-line workers

A Downtown Squamish sushi joint will recognize first responders and front-line health care workers by offering them a free meal this weekend.

Sushi Goemon restaurant on Second Avenue will open the restaurant this Saturday and Sunday, on March 28 and March 29, from 12 pm to 5 pm.

First responders and front-line healthcare workers can show their ID and get a free meal.

The restaurant will also be offering take-out option for the general public with a limited menu.

These will be the items on the menu:

Choice of 2 rolls (cucumber roll, avocado roll, veggie roll, California roll, dynamite roll)
Chicken teriyaki bento box
Beef teriyaki bento box
Sushi bento box

Sushi Goemon said it would like to thank the community for supporting local businesses in this difficult time.

“We are proud to be able to serve the Sea to Sky community and we look forward to continually being able to serve you in a safe and healthy manner,” the restaurant said.

Another local store, London Drugs, is stepping up by dedicating an hour of shopping for health care workers and first responders.

The company said it will offer the last hour, from 8 to 9 pm daily, Monday to Saturday, and 7 pm to 8 pm, every Sunday, for front-line workers.
