A young rock climber from Ohio has given rave reviews to Squamish in a letter to Mayor Karen Elliott.

Killian Sullivan, a second-grade student of Mrs. Hofman’s class at Jefferson Elementary Student in Gahanna, Ohio, wrote a letter to Mayor Elliott in February.

It is not clear when Killian visited Squamish or whether he has any family here, or has previously lived in town.

Killian’s letter stems from a writer’s workshop where students learnt how to write reviews.

“I chose to write a review on Squamish because it is my favourite place,” he writes in a letter to Mayor Elliott.

Rock climbing, the Sea to Sky Gondola and the “awesome” wildlife are some of the reasons he recommends Squamish to others.

“As a kid, rock climbing is my favorite sport and Squamish is my favorite place to do it. I recommend climbing at Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. It is very fun,” he says.

In a response to Killian, Mayor Elliott said she was glad to hear Squamish was one his favourite places.

“It was such a pleasure to read your review about our town, and we are so happy to hear that you are enjoying our rock climbing, hiking, and wildlife,” she said.

The letter and MayorElliott’s response can be read here.
