The size of the fire in Squamish Valley currently remains the same, according to an update from BC Wildfire Service.

Marg Drysdale, an information officer with BC Wildfire Service, said the fire is not growing and the fire behaviour also remains low. It isn’t contained, however.

“The fire fighters are feeling lucky that the fire remains the same size and they are working hard to contain it,” Drysdale said.

The service estimates the fire size to be 100 hectares.

As many as 42 fire crew personnel, three helicopter and one Structural Protection Unit brought by the Squamish fire department are assisting in fire suppression efforts.

Meanwhile,  Squamish RCMP are asking people to avoid the area. The fire is suspected to be human-caused and is under investigation.
