Squamish RCMP are asking the community to stick to pots and pans, and other noise-making instruments while applauding front-line workers in the evening.
Squamish RCMP issued the request after it received three complaints of bear bangers and fireworks going off during COVID-19 appreciation in the community.
Locals have been calling police with reports of gun shots fired. Bear bangers and fireworks can also pose a fire risk, Squamish RCMP said.
“While it’s important to participate in the nightly event of thanking our healthcare and frontline workers, RCMP remind participants to stick to using pots, pans, instruments, and other safe noise makers so as not to risk community safety,” police said.
