BC Transit will resume fare collection and front-door entry of passengers on June 1.

BC Transit says it will enhance safety measures on buses that would enable the change.

BC Transit will be installing a temporary vinyl panel to allow for physical distancing for the operator and customers on all buses without a full driver door.

This new safety measures aligns with the direction from the Provincial Health Officer, BC Transit said.

Meanwhile other safety measures will remain in effect.

Those include enhanced cleaning on buses, limiting passengers to ensure physical distancing, as well as installing vinyl panels in light duty buses.

“BC Transit continues to provide transportation services for those that need us, including essential service workers and those going for their weekly grocery trip,” the agency said.
