Alice Lake Provincial Park and Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park are the only two local provincial parks that will open for day use on May 14.
However, Stawamus Chief, Shannon Falls, Garibaldi Park, and Murrin Park will remain closed for now.
“Parks that attract large crowds will remain closed until it is safe to reopen at a later date. Backcountry campgrounds in some parks with high day use will also remain closed,” BC Parks said.
Alice Lake and Brackendale parks are among the several provincial parks in BC that will open for day-use only on May 14.
Many front- and back-country trails, beaches, picnic areas, washroom facilities and boat launch for day-use will also reopen.
However, visitor centres, nature houses and concession buildings may be opened on a case-by case basis, and in some cases, playgrounds, hot springs, halls, and picnic shelters will remain closed.
Meanwhile, most campgrounds and back country camping will open on June 1 . The Discover Camping reservation system will be back online on May 25 at 7 am.
“We’ll do everything we can to ensure parks are safe, but visitors are reminded they are responsible for their own safety and to practice physical distancing by giving extra space when passing people on trails and in parking lots and practicing appropriate hygiene,” BC Parks said in an update.
