District of Squamish is inviting bids for construction of a temporary fire hall at 38042 Clark Drive.
The temporary hall will be located on the parking lot between Clarke Drive and Guilford Drive, adjacent to the Squamish General Hospital.
District is inviting bids to construct a temporary shelter for equipment, a temporary trailer annex building facility for training, offices, bathroom facilities, and a storage Sea Can.
It will house equipment and apparatus and have office space for full-time staff of the Squamish fire hall. Construction is expected to start next month and will be complete in four months.
Civil works will include clearing and grubbing, grading, gravel pits, perimeter swales, asphalt and some excavation and utility connections.
Last month, the district approved design of the new Valleycliffe Fire Hall on Clark Drive, which will also function as an administrative office and an emergency operations centre.
District anticipates eight full-time staff and up to 50 paid on-call staff with five main vehicles would be using the new fire hall on Clark Drive.
It will have facilities to accommodate 12-hour and overnight shifts as well as paid on-call staff facilities that include office and training needs.
It will also act as a post-disaster facility that can be self-sustaining and can be used to coordinate response, support and recovery efforts during a prolonged event.
