BC Parks has now included Stawamus Chief Provincial Park in the list of parks that will reopen for day use today, May 14.

However, the main 2.7 kilometre Chief trail (Backside trail) will remain closed.

Along with Stawamus Chief, Alice Lake Provincial Park and Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park are the other  provincial parks in Squamish that will open today.

Shannon Falls, Garibaldi, and Murrin provincial parks are other local parks that will remain closed for now. Porteau Cove Provincial Park will also remain closed.

Meanwhile, Brandywine Falls Provincial Park will also open today, with the main gates opening at 8 am and closing at 7 pm through to May 31.

Other Sea to Sky parks such as Joffres Lakes, Nairn Falls, Callaghan Lake and Birkenhead Lake provincial parks will remain closed.

Many front- and back-country trails, beaches, picnic areas, washroom facilities and boat launch for day-use will also reopen today.

However, visitor centres, nature houses and concession buildings may be opened on a case-by case basis, and in some cases, playgrounds, hot springs, halls, and picnic shelters will remain closed.

Meanwhile, most campgrounds and back country camping will open on June 1.
