BC Parks has warned that vehicles parked illegally at Shannon Falls Provincial Park and Murrin Provincial Park will be towed away.

“Vehicles parked illegally will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Visitors must park in designated parking lots and observe the “no parking” signs posted. Vehicles parked illegally in closed day-use areas will be charged a fee for gate unlocking,” BC Parks said.

BC Parks is also restricting parking at provincial parks in Squamish that opened on Monday, June 1.

Parking has been reduced to half at Alice Lake, Murrin, Shannon Falls and Stawamus Chief parks. Parking has also been halved at the Brandywine Falls Provincial Park.

BC Parks has reduced parking to maintain physical distancing as a COVID-19 response.

Those who plan to go to the parks are being asked to arrive early or on weekdays to ensure a parking spot.

At the Alice Lake Provincial Park, playground remains closed, and some camping sites may be restricted to maintain social distancing.

At the Porteau Cove Provincial Park, there will be reduced picnic facilities at walk-in sites as well as at the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. All double sites will be restricted to single party only at Stawamus.

The backside trail and access to Peaks 1, 2 and 3 are closed due to COVID-19, though the park is open for rock climbing and picnicking.

At the Tantalus Provincial Park, the Lake Lovely Water cabin will remain closed.

Garibaldi Provincial Park and Joffres Lake Provincial Park still remain closed.

Thank goodness 😅 and follow up on it too! Don’t just say it! Two weekends ago there was at least 12 cars parked on the west side of the highway at the entrance to the gravel pit (Which by the way is private property) right before the lanes merge into one going southbound…they have to know that you just can’t park wherever you want to! If there’s no parking to where you would like to go ….then go to a different place ..or park properly and walk. Let’s all use our common sense …if there’s no parking spots then there is already too many people there! Go somewhere else.
