A local car dealership is planning a last hurrah to cheer and applaud local health care workers in Squamish.

The downtown car dealership, Foundation Squamish, will be hosting a Jeep Meet parade on Friday, June 12, at 6:15 pm to appreciate the local health care workers.

“We wanted to host this community event to celebrate the reopening of our city, and to thank everyone who has helped flatten the curve and actively work towards its decline,” says Adam Mounzer, the dealership principle.

Mounzer says the parade is symbolic of the end of the first phase of the battle against COVID-19, and a heartfelt expression of gratitude for health care workers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during this trying time.

The parade will depart Foundation Squamish at 1180 Hunter Place, at 6:50 pm, and arrive at the Squamish General Hospital at 38140 Behrner Drive by 6:58 pm.

The parade will complete a loop through the hospital parking lot and cheer and applaud health care workers at 7 pm and then leave the area soon after.

A post-event BBQ will also take place at the dealership, starting at 7:30 pm and ending at 9:30 pm.

Foundation Squamish is inviting the community to be part of this event to honour and applaud our local health care workers.
