Motorcyclist dies in accident on Highway 99

​A motorcyclist is dead and five others have been injured in an accident on Highway 99 north of Pemberton.

Pemberton RCMP says four motorcyclists were travelling north on the Sea to Sky Highway when the accident happened.

The crash took place about nine kilometre north of Joffre Lake. Police say as many as three motorcycles collided with a south bound vehicle.

One of the motorcyclists was declared dead at the scene. Others involved in the collision were taken to hospitals in the Lower Mainland with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

According to Drive BC, the road is closed and the estimated time of opening is around 11:30 pm.

Meanwhile, police is investigating the accident and asking any eye witnesses to contact them at 604-892-6100.​​
