Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after Highway 99 collision

Staff report
July 8, 2020 3:59pm

A motorcyclist was airlifted to a Lower Mainland hospital after a collision on Highway 99.

The accident happened on July 4 at approximately 1:45 pm on Highway 99, south of Function Junction in Whistler.

Police said three motorcyclists were travelling northbound on Highway 99 at a high speed.

Two of them were successful in passing a vehicle that was also heading north-bound. The third motorcycle, however, was not able to maneuver around the vehicle and struck it at high speed.

The collision launched the motorcyclist onto the southbound lanes where he struck the roadside barriers.

The 23-year-old motorcyclist from Ontario was taken to the local hospital and then flown by air ambulance to a lower mainland hospital.

His injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

Please contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crimestoppers if you have any information related to this incident.
