Squamish Search and Rescue were able to bring back a camper to safety after he suffered a severe allergic reaction.
The man was camping in the Garibaldi Park near the Garibaldi Park Lake when he suffered a severe allergic reaction.
It was one among three calls the Squamish Search and Rescue attended this long weekend.
“We were able to fly a medical team and he was brought back to Squamish airport and then transported to the local hospital. He has made a full recovery,” said BJ Chute, the spokesperson for Squamish SAR.
The call for the Garibaldi Lake rescue was made to the SAR on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier on Sunday, SAR was also called by a citizen who reported a paddle boarder in distress. However, it was later determined the paddleboarder didn’t need SAR assistance.
Yesterday, Squamish SAR was requested by BC Ambulance to rescue a woman who had broken her ankle while hiking the Lake Lovely Water trail.
“We flew a team that locate the woman, stabilised her ankle and then extracted her from the trail and brought her back to the Squamish airport, from where she was taken to the hospital,” Chute said.
Last week, SAR also responded to a request by Squamish fire rescue to assist a mountain biker who had sustained an injury at a local trail. He was also brought to the safety with the help of an air crew.
Squamish Search and Rescue also assisted another injured mountain biker in the Alice Lake area last week.
