Weekend crash on Highway 99 sent scooter driver, motorcyclist to hospital

Whistler RCMP responded to two accidents on Saturday, August 8, on the Sea to Sky Highway.

A man on scooter and a motorcyclist were transported to the hospital in two separate accidents on the highway.

Just before 2 pm on Saturday, Whistler RCMP were called to an accident near the Callaghan Valley Forest Service Road.

The crash closed the highway for approximately an hour.

Sgt. Rob Knapton of Whistler RCMP said a scooter was going northbound in a stretch of highway where maintenance work was going on.

The scooter operator lost control while trying to change lanes. He was airlifted to a Vancouver hospital for treatment.

At approximately 6 pm, Whistler RCMP were called to a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV near Daisy Lake Forest Service Road on Highway 99.

The SUV was going southbound when the driver slowed down to pass over a bump on the road. The SUV was rear-ended by a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment.
