A mountain climber was airlifted to a Vancouver-area hospital after she fell while climbing in the Cheakamus Canyon area.
B J Chute, the spokesperson for Squamish Search and Rescue, said they were called to the Electric Avenue climbing area on Friday after a 25-year old woman fell while climbing.
“We were able to treat her and extricate her to the airport, from where she was taken by air ambulance to a Vancouver area hospital,” Chute said.
This was one among the three calls the Squamish Search and Rescue attended this weekend.
On Saturday, SAR crews were called to Watersprite Lake to help a woman who had fainted near the lake. She was airlifted to the hospital.
On Sunday, Squamish Search and Rescue crews also responded to a hiker who had injured his ankle near Blanca Lake in the Elaho Valley.
There were two other calls, Chute said, but they were resolved over the phone.
It was a relatively quiet weekend compared to the last weekend when Squamish Search and Rescue dealt with 13 calls in the area.
