Squamish Tim Hortons to reopen this week

Staff report
August 17, 2020 3:55pm

The Tim Hortons at 38930 Progress Way in Squamish is expected to reopen this week after it was closed following an employee testing positive for COVID-19.

The restaurant is expected to be open this Friday, August 21.

“The restaurant has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. We anticipate the restaurant will reopen on Friday,” Tim Hortons said in a statement.

Tim Hortons said the restaurant was temporarily closed on August 7 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

“We wish the employee a full recovery. The health and safety of guests and team members has been our top priority throughout the pandemic,” the company said.

Those who worked with the closely with this person are self-isolating for 14 days and will be supported through Tim Horton’s COVID-19 compensation fund that makes up for any lost wages.

The $40 million fund is contributed by the company as well as the owners of the Tim Hortons franchises across the country.

“We don’t want any team member affected by COVID-19 coming to work sick, and we don’t want them isolated at home worrying about how to support themselves and their families,” said Duncan Fulton, chief corporate officer at Tim Hortons.
