When Highway 99 was upgraded for the 2010 Winter Olympics the community at Britannia was told that a four lane by-pass was planned when traffic volume required it. Land was dedicated and transferred to the Ministry by Macdonald Development Ltd. when Britannia was subdivided in 2006. The community insisted upon and was granted a two lane merge to single lane entering the community from either direction and an intersection with a stop light. We don’t want vehicles speeding through our community and most people are inconvenienced getting to their destinations passing through our townsite. The weekend congestion and this accident are a reminder it is time for the by-pass.
