UPDATE: Conservation officers have safely captured the grizzly bear that was seen near Shady Tree in Squamish.
The bear will be released at a location determined by senior wildlife biologists, the service said.
Conservation officers are also encouraging residents to pick fruit and secure attractants.

The Conservation Officer Service says the grizzly bear spotted in the residential area in Squamish was feeding on fruit trees in Garibaldi Estates.
“We are asking the public to please remove fruit trees and secure garbage and all other attractants,” the service said.
Conservation officers have hazed the grizzly bear and say they want it to move on.
The grizzly has shown no signs of aggression so far but the officers are urging people to be cautious when they go outside.
“Please be vigilant and take precautions when outside – keep dogs on a leash, travel in groups and carry bear spray,” the service said.
“CO’s are monitoring the situation, conducting attractant patrols and asking the public to call in all sightings to the RAPP line.”

Nice to hear that our so-called conservation officers did a conservation move …. of course takes are to participate including the bear.
