The Sea to Sky Gondola management has issued a brief statement on the second act of vandalism to the gondola.
“At approximately 4 am on Monday, September 14, a second act of vandalism occurred at the Sea to Sky Gondola and the main cable has been cut. No staff or guests were on the line. We are working with the RCMP and our efforts are focused on the well-being of our staff at this time. The gondola is closed and we ask that the public stay away from the area for the safety of everyone.”
Squamish RCMP are also asking the public to stay away from the Sea to Sky Gondola area.
“We are only a few hours into this investigation, and we ask the public to stay out of the area” says Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.
“There is an extensive amount of resources in the area and we are asking everyone to stay out of the vicinity including climbing routes, hiking, and closed parking lots.”
Police are also seeking information from anyone who may have seen or heard something.
